We should have met, yet somehow we did not,
We were on the same road, you and I,
Difference departure points, same destination,
We should have met, yet somehow we did not.
I should have known, but somehow I did not,
When I spied you from a distance,
That you were too far ahead of me,
I should have known, but somehow I did not.
I should have acted, yet I did not,
When others walked at your side,
I merely watched in silence,
I should have acted, yet I did not.
We never met, you never saw me,
I watched but stayed behind,
Life stolen by slowness,
I stole it from myself.
