"Lunar splashed. Fragile liquid wings. Spine cracking mornings. Keyboard played and fingers flitting...the upload begins..icon initialization"
So began the first phaze of a Twitter fiction experiment by author Kneel Downe.
The VirulentBlurb is his universe - a science fiction dystopia of human/animal genetic splicing, ReGen drugs, DreamCages and DeadBoxes, in a city where nobody has seen the sun for 50 years.
Gathered in this first book of the VirulentBlurb are the original fiction tweets - twelve "phazes" of vivid, poetic, image-filled tweets telling the story of his post-apocalyptic world. There are scripts of stories featuring the wolf-spliced detective Kurt Lobo and interview notes from the heroic inmates of the Copper Cascades Institution.
Interspersed are "extra" snippets and fragments as plotlines and characters interweave and overlap, hinting at stories past and yet to come. Taken as a whole... this is your introduction to the wor(l)d building of Kneel Downe.
The VirulentBlurb universe is constantly evolving and growing with more fiction, new stories and characters manifesting regularly on Kneel's Twitter streams, his website and being gathered and added to for new books.
It makes addictive reading.
From the critically acclaimed author Kneel Downe comes a mythical tale, a virulent fable, a twist in the VirulentBlurb universe. With illustrations by renowned artist Susan Omand, Kneel returns to his universe and tells the story of Amelia, a character that appears in every strand of the VirulentBlurb, an echo tying the whole collection of strings together. Set in a fantasy world of Chaos Lords and Chrome Dragons, Amelia’s Song sees her journey through this vast land, meeting old friends and encountering new ones in her quest to stop the Knights of Hell.
Whisper...
In the Dark...
The follow up to the critically acclaimed VIRULENT BLURB:Fractures... Or is it?
After being introduced to the splintered Blurb Universe in FRACTURES, the aftermath of a cataclysmic conflict, the dark world, fifty years after the war, Kneel Downe's REFLECTIONS takes us back to a time before the war, before the sun went out, to the introduction of this extraordinary world.
Time flicks between the then and the now as the technology and players of this multiverse answer the questions raised, rise, fall and ask yet more questions.
VIRULENTBLURB:REFLECTIONS takes you on a journey from the beginning to the end... And back again
Welcome to the first KURT LOBO CASEFILE.
Welcome to the Endless, Sprawling, Neon City beneath the broken EverNight.
Welcome to the life of WolfSpliced Detective Kurt Lobo.
There are many, many cases before the events of VIRULENTBLURB: FRACTURES. Here is just one of them...
A damaged serial killer is stalking the city streets.
Bodies left at random.
Ritualistic in their method.
Brutal.
Can Detective Lobo find the JackPort Killer before events get too close?
Too personal? And just what is it that lurks out there in the darkness, hinting at greater battles to come? Welcome to the world of The Wolf. Tread carefully.
Staccato lay lines in the universal map...
Tributes and tribulations...
Statements and stories...
Punk poetry...
Welcome to SPORADIC. Discover the building blocks of a universe you already know and the beginnings of others you don't. This is the visionary mind of Kneel Downe in its rawest form, spewing nonsensical flows of genius...
This is creation. SPORADIC can be viewed as an anthology or collection of the brief explosions of imagination that Kneel Downe writes on Twitter. Concepts. Ideas. Short stories, poems and works in progress. A glimpse into his online notebooks. Many of these sparks grow into something larger...many more don't. Here for your pleasure are the ones that haven't...
yet.
SPORADIC TOO: Infections
SPORADIC - (adj.) occurring at irregular intervals or only in a few places; scattered or isolated.
The Copper Cascade: A Virulent ChapBook
“The construction of Mental Rehabilitation Facility Alpha now began. Due to the materials used it soon became known as THE COPPER CASCADE.” - VirulentBlurb: Reflections
Are they evil? Or just trying to help? It may be too early to tell...
Dark Deliverance and his band of subversive superheroes are seeking vengeance on a hateful world bathed in endless night. From destroying property in the cyberpunk city to their run-ins with the wolf-splice detective Kurt Lobo, one thing is for sure...
The Copper Cascade mental facility may not be able to hold them!
Containing extracts pulled together from the previously published books of Kneel Downe’s VirulentBlurb Universe, and with a new Foreword by Steve Taylor-Bryant, this is the first in a series of four Virulent ChapBooks which introduces readers to the characters and concepts in Kneel’s writing in a smaller, cheaper, more easy to read way.

An Owl's Tale returns the reader to a time of traveller's tales and campfire storytelling as Amelia and her companion Owl head east to begin the quest in the book Amelia's Song. The tales told here stand alone and yet fit characters and stories told before and yet to come in Kneel's own unique style. They are a mix of the classical, the contemporary and the not yet invented and are as reminiscent of Carroll and Grimm as they are as new as Noon and Martin. Fairy tales and sagas that are as future proof as they are familiar.
Born of truth and folklore cloaked, the FairyBlurbs may be the most important VirulentBlurb book yet.
This book is a Ladybird.
SPORADIC TOO: Infections
SPORADIC - (adj.) occurring at irregular intervals or only in a few places; scattered or isolated.
The first book was SPORADIC.
This book is SPORADIC TOO.
This time, however, it’s a little different. This time there are fragments of the VirulentBlurb hidden within the pages. These fragments matter. They fill holes and gaps whilst creating others. They speak directly to the history and the future of the VirulentBlurb. They are the spores of contagion. Be prepared...

Kneel Downe's Stolen Indie Anthology
In March 2016, author Kneel Downe asked for submissions for a charity anthology with the theme of STOLEN. The only stipulation was that the entries had to be under 1000 words long. After many hours of reading, arguing and selecting, this is the resulting collection of 15 short stories and poetry.
Even though all the authors, some of whom have never been published before and others who are well established as independent writers, kept to the STOLEN theme, it was interpreted in many different styles and the collection spans the genres, from sci-fi to romance to psychological horror. Never one to shy away from difficult and hardcore topics, Kneel has chosen work that deals with both physical and emotional loss, from the poignancy of lost love, through the emptiness of stolen dreams to the brutality of abuse.
This is a small book that hits hard.
All profits from the sale of this anthology will go to the charity childrenwithcancer.org.uk

#KillAllPoets: A Virulent ChapBook
“...an angry punk in a Victorian world of safe and sentimental verse...”
As noisy and incongruous as the man himself, #KillAllPoets started on Twitter as Kneel Downe’s rebellion against the saccharine torment of establishment poetry writing.
Now it is the title for this collection of his own work, set to shatter the sugar coating and expose poetry’s pulsating black heart.

Pack Mentality: A Virulent ChapBook
Detective Kurt Lobo.
The wolf-spliced detective is probably one of the most popular characters in the VirulentBlurb universe. Harking back to the pulp noir detectives of the 1940’s and 50’s, Detective Lobo is Mike Hammer with hairy hide, a furry Philip Marlowe. He appears, whether as a major or minor player, in every strand and reality of the books of the Blurb and his gruff, cynical humour is now an instantly recognisable voice in the darkness of the City’s neon splashed night.
Pack Mentality is the last of the four-part Virulent ChapBook set and it ventures onto the gritty streets of the City itself, gathering three short stories – one each from Lobo, his younger brother Lyca and a short report from his police partner Officer Geldof – alongside a taste of something yet to come that will have fans howling for more.
Contains strong language and violence. Much like Lobo himself.
